Cream Puffs Galore

I love sweet things. Especially chocolate. So when a friend told me about a place where I could get "the best chocolate cream puff in San Francisco," I had to check it out. The Beard Papa, a japanese sweets cafe with two locations in San Francisco on Yerba Buena Lane and in the Westfield center on Market Street, serves treats that are much yummier and sweeter than it's name. They specialize in eclairs and cream puffs but also serve other treats, such as cheesecake sticks and fondant au chocolate, a moist chocolate cake with a gooey chocolate center. The eclair's come in two flavors: Vanilla and Double chocolate. The cream puffs come in vanilla bean and chocolate and they rotate between caramel, green tea, pumpkin, milk tea, and strawberry as the third flavor on a weekly basis. The really cool thing about Beard Papa is that they make the cream puffs and eclairs fresh when you order them. You can watch them fill the pastry with the silken cream right before they serve it to you. I decided to try the chocolate cream puff (an obvious choice for a chocolate lover such as myself). The filling was definitely creamy and surprisingly light. Not too sweet, almost had a dark chocolate taste too it. It was very fluffy and nice. The pastry was a little bland but very flaky. If you love cream puffs and eclairs, Beard Papa is sure to please!
