Spring for a Mani/Pedi at Bella Nails in the Marina
The city is full of small, inexpensive nail salons, but you've got to wonder, are all of them clean? The good news is, some are, like my favorite, Bella Nails on Pierce Street in the Marina. This salon is run by a bevy of cheerful, friendly Vietnamese women who greet you politely and will give you the works--fast and cheap. Services include regular manicures, pedicures, and acrylic nails, as well as waxing and truly awesome hand, feet and shoulder massages. A ten-minute shoulder massage is the next best thing to going to a masseuse, and at Bella Nails it costs less than $20. Even a mani/pedi and massage is still under $40!
The salon has a full range of Essie and OPI nail polish, and when it's crowded and you have to wait, there's plenty of easy reading (People, US, InStyle) to pick from. Men and women alike, you'll feel like a new person when you leave.
