Art extravaganza weekend
Looking for something to do this weekend? how does FREE ART sound?
Open to the public and free of charge.
Starting out this Friday 6-10 pm at the receiver gallery Ogi a Tokyo-born Oakland based artist delights us with his lush color combinations of character illustration and graphic design. Working in acrylic paint and digital prints, he imports Japanese girls, obscure pop culture references, anime and manga.
Giant Robot hosts the after-party at Element Lounge to bid the artist farewell before he returns to Tokyo for a minute.
Then on Saturday March 7-11 p His Is the Picture - A Photographic Opening With Musical Backdrop This will take place at Balazo Gallery located on Mission @ 18th this place has no visible signs that show its name, however right behind a muni bus stop you will see a corner that is covered in graffiti and a small red door that will lead you to the gallery's main entrance, personally one of my favorite places in the city.
Photographers Alison Bank, Aaron Beachnau, and Mischief Photo (aka Danielle Barnett)
exhibit their celluloid journeys though people, landscapes, the abstract and breakdancing. The musical portion of the evening is an experimental–electro DJ set by Maxell coupled with a downtempo live laptop set by Dr. Toast.

Have fun and be safe. Until next time.
Cheers!
