Christmas Eve and Day Things To Do

by Kathryn Vercillo

San Francisco is not a place which shuts down simply because it’s a holiday. Here are just a few ideas of things that you can go out and do whether you are traveling through the area, residing in the area without family to entertain for the holiday or simply want to get out and about. Be sure to check out our earlier Christmas posts for additional San Francisco Christmas ideas.

Holiday themed things to do:
Holiday Animation Film Festival – Located at The Exploratorium, this event includes a screening of “A Child’s Christmas In Wales”.
• Oakland Interfaith Gospel – Enjoy a live gospel music performance on Christmas Eve at Slim’s.
Reindeer Romp – Take the kids (or the kid in your heart) to go see reindeer and enjoy Christmas activities at the San Francisco Zoo.

Non-holiday themed things to do:
• Chinatown – Shopping and food will be open for your enjoyment.
Christmas Day Bike Ride – Did too much eating on Christmas Eve? Head out for a 29-mile scenic bike ride with the Velo Girls group.
• Karaoke at The Cellar – What better night to come out and sing than Christmas night?
• Visit an art gallery – Several are open, including Receiver Gallery which is currently displaying a twenty-artist collaborative effort made up of Japanese and American artists.
