Spa & Beauty in San Diego

“The queen of flowers lifts the spirit to perfect untroubled pleasure and contentment”.

Barb was telling me the other day that she had replaced her "Reiki Master"; it seems he confuses the concept of an object, with the object itself.

Anyway; we're back from shopping; Barb has a new wine supply, and Julie her Lotus Blossoms.

It seems the Garden Spa at MacAuthur Place had everything but... ...

“…the fragrance of crushed grape hangs in the air producing a kind of hallucinatory beauty. Myself; I’m looking forward to an “Adam”- an energizing body treatment.

We are back in Hillcrest again; enjoining a fine salad, exquisite soup, and a bottle of chardonnay. However, Julie is facing a dilemma, it seems her cousin is coming to San Diego for a two week vacation, and she feels an oblation to show him around.

Whole Foods La Jolla

Well, it’s not like they need the publicity, but I go there regularly, so I thought I’d write them up anyway. Whole Foods La Jolla is a great place for a quick meal. It’s not somewhere you’d go on a romantic date or anything, but they have a hot food bar, a cold food bar (including salad, of course), pizza, soups, sandwiches, drinks, snacks, and even ...

We managed to be signed in at the Del just in time for Easter Sunday Brunch. And no, our rooms weren’t one of the Del's "haunted" ones.

As usual, the Brunch was in the Crown Room and it was as elegant as befits this Historical Victorian Hotel.

After Brunch Barb and Julie went straight to the Spa; yesterday had been busy and they were anxious to relax.

They both opted for the Asian-inspired treatment. Direct pressure is applied to points on the feet corresponding to particular areas of ...

The "Surrender" experience is reminiscent of ancient Roman spas where guests are encouraged to rejuvenate and celebrate together with wraps, scrubs, baths, and massage.

Barb was sick in spirit and asked me where she could "rejuvenate", and get over the Evil fortune that had intervened; for it seems the wood shodana was destroyed in an accident during shipment.

I told her it was better to "Surrender" than to resist; and of course, I knew just the place; it was on the way back to San Diego. It is just ...

I’m hanging out in the “eucalyptus steam room” while Barb and Julie enjoy a “Spa Balinese Massage”

I'm hanging out in the "eucalyptus steam room" while Barb and Julie enjoy a "Spa Balinese Massage" in a Spa room for couples. The room even comes with a fireplace. For the more trendy the spa even offers a yoga studio and wellness classes.

As you might guess, we have left Monterey and arrived at the Huntington in San Francisco. No, I'm not contracting myself, ...

Relax in the comfort of our Vineyard room and experience the magic of massage together.

We decided that we did not want to stay in San Francisco for more than a few days; that left us with the dilemma of what to do for the other couple of days.

There are only three places I can say I really know as home: San Diego, San Francisco, and Monterey. Monterey has its "Cannery Row" like San Francisco has its "Fisherman's-Wharf". Both however can boast ...

Barb, Julie, and a Shiatsu Massage.

crains4web.jpg There are many reasons to stay at the Sheraton San Diego - one is its proximity to the airport, and downtown; another is you can keep your boat at the Sheraton Marina - but best of all is its "Spa and Fitness Center."

As it happens; Barb, while waiting for a Shiatso massage overhears Julie complaining about the propaganda over ...

Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market

Ocean Beach People’s Organic Food Market is a really long name for a grocery store, but perfect describes the store.  “People’s” as it is often called in short, is located in Ocean Beach, (practically) on the corner of Sunset Cliffs and Voltaire.  It’s is the “People’s” because it is a cooperative; it is member-owned and operated.  They sell largely organic products, and it is primarily a food market.

People’s is the ...

Yoga , Pilates, and More at the YMCA

Now you might not expect the YMCA to be listed as a destination on a traveler’s website, but it’s just the place to look if you want to squeeze in a yoga or Pilates class while out and about in San Diego. There are many studios around San Diego, and many of them offer great classes. But the YMCA offers classes all day long, very extensive when compared to the ...
