School of Healing Arts - Massage in PB

The School of Healing Arts Massage School is located on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. However, it is not to be confused with IPSB, which is also located on Garnet Avenue. The School of Healing Arts is in an upstairs office building.

A massage with a student practitioner is $39. However, I have to say that massage with the students here, in my experience, have been disappointing. ...

IPSB Massage in PB

The International Professional School of Body Work in Pacific Beach offers massage seven days a week.  You can choose either a student ($45) or a professional ($60).  You get a full hour of massage (not 50 minutes like most places).

The setting is relaxing and professional.  You enter at the front desk, where the receptionist greets you; they are typically friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

The students are fair to good in their ...

Toby Wells YMCA in Kearny Mesa

The Toby Wells branch of the YMCA is part of the San Diego YMCA, which includes the Mission Valley location and the Hazard Center Annex, as well as the Downtown YMCA. Yes, that's right, these are all under one membership!

The Toby Wells YMCA is located in Kearny Mesa, and for many people it is quite out of the way. But if you work in the area it can be ...

Bella Tosca Day Spa

Bella Tosca Day Spa is part of the Town and Country Hotel, located in the heart of Mission Valley, between Fashion Valley Mall and Interstate 8.  Upon arrival, it looks like nothing special, but the facilities are quite nice once inside. The Town and Country is a San Diego classic hotel, and has been around since Mission Valley really was a valley, and on the edge of both town and ...

Barb and Julie are enjoying a Jin Shin Jitzu – An ancient eastern Asian healing art of harmonizing the life energy and balancing your body, mind, and spirit.

Mitch called and is coming down for the pre-racing season -  it's only 11 weeks and 8 days until opening day. It seems he owns a couple of horses that are starting and wants to check in on them.

He wondered if the four of us couldn't get together again - San Francisco had been fun, inspite of the mix-up and frumpy antique shops.

I'm not hanging out in ...

The experience of food, like the experience of Art should produce meaning - where a hungry soul can too be satisfied and a distinction be made between eating and feeding.

In the glow of the twilight, Julie, while gingerly finishing a chocolate savarin with Grand Marnier orange sauce was philosophizing about her question, "what to do after a frumpy one night stand." This all brought remembrances to me of another shopping trip to San Francisco - it seems that we again had returned empty-handed.

Anyway, Julie had concluded that her one night stand went wrong when she realized her ...

when we heard Julie exclaim: “Bye the way, what do you suggest doing after a frumpy one night stand?”

Barb and I were having breakfast where we always do when in San Diego - at the Bread and Cie in Hillcrest. I was having a kiesch pie that is always magnificent and we were on our second cup of their signature coffee. We were setting outside on the sidewalk patio taking in the early morning sun.

Julie was running late and Barb was beginning ...

“Sharing a healing mineral hot spring spa for two…. In our own private room….that’s what I call living”.

The Red Vineyard Vincent van Gogh

When the talk turned to, what to do next Jack was quick to point out that whatever it was, it had to be away from "Tourist Traps": That the Cruise had been enough for a while.

I knew just the place to spend ...

The Beauty's in the Details

Detail's Salon

4993 Niagara Ave Ste 205
San Diego, CA 92107
(619) 222-6777

Details Salon might be in the heart of grungy, beachy OB-but don't be fooled. This high class, snooty-less salon is pricey but for all the right reasons. For one, they use Aveda products and hair color. If you've ever gotten your hair done right, chances are that Aveda was involved. The company not only offers completely plant-based, natural styling products, ...
