The experience of food, like the experience of Art should produce meaning - where a hungry soul can too be satisfied and a distinction be made between eating and feeding.

In the glow of the twilight, Julie, while gingerly finishing a chocolate savarin with Grand Marnier orange sauce was philosophizing about her question, "what to do after a frumpy one night stand." This all brought remembrances to me of another shopping trip to San Francisco - it seems that we again had returned empty-handed.

Anyway, Julie had concluded that her one night stand went wrong when she realized her date was far too foppish. She was speculating on whether had she offered up to her "foppish friend" a plate of truffles, might he had been different: quoting Brillat Savarin -"The truffle is not exactly an aphrodisiac, but it tends to make women more tender and men more likeable." As it is, we are back in San Diego - Barb has a friend with a condo on Lake San Marcos and we are visiting her:  when I say, "Out of the way place" I mean this is the epitome of an out-of -the way-place.

They have a fine menu and I recommend the "Grilled Quail Salad" with the Champagne vinaigrette follow by "Grilled Irish Salmon."

The Dinner menus are comparable with some of the better in San Diego; be sure and visit if you are in the area, if not, plan a trip, you won't be disappointed, promise.

As always; in pursuit of service and elegance.

Bon Appétit
