The "Surrender" experience is reminiscent of ancient Roman spas where guests are encouraged to rejuvenate and celebrate together with wraps, scrubs, baths, and massage.
Barb was sick in spirit and asked me where she could "rejuvenate", and get over the Evil fortune that had intervened; for it seems the wood shodana was destroyed in an accident during shipment.
I told her it was better to "Surrender" than to resist; and of course, I knew just the place; it was on the way back to San Diego. It is just a 20 minute drive from John Wayne Airport to the Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach where we could take in the "Surrender Experience", and afterward, the Pageant of the Masters; the theme this year is "Young at Heart".
And so it was that after "Art of Spa.", and the "Art of the Masters" we dined late with Barb light and breezy once again.
We ate at the French 75; Barb said the French Onion Salmon with a Black Pepper Crust, Pommes Puree and Sweet Onion Jus was absolutely divine, Julie spoke highly of the Halibut Picholine with Spinach, Capers and Picholine Olive Butter. I settled for a 22oz Cote de Boeuf Prime Rib Chop.
We highly recommend the Montage Resort & Spa, and the French 75.
The Dinner menus are comparable with some of the best; be sure and visit if you are in the area, if not, plan a trip, you won't be disappointed, promise.
As always; in pursuit of service and elegance.
Bon Appétit
