I was on my second “Tangerine mimosas”

I was on my second "Tangerine mimosas" and still waiting for Barb; she had called and said she was flying into San Diego and could I meet her at the Brockton Villa Restaurant. "Sure," I had said, "what brings you to town?" "There is a gift I would like to pick-up and I just know you can help me with it". Barb was late, not like her at all; you could usually set the time based on her punctuality. "Hi Bill" I heard her say, and then yelled across to the waiter, "I'll have what he is drinking, but put an extra shot of Grand Marnier in it". "You're late," I said as a question. "Yep," she replied. "The chauffeur got lost; when it was 11:00 I ask him where we were, he said close, then muttered something about the GPS was not working". I ask her if she didn't know the way by now; "Heavens no, I don't know the way, that's why I have chauffeurs; and besides, that's what I rely on you for too ... finding the right places. I thought back to our first correspondence: I received an e-mail asking if I knew of a restaurant with a "long history --- world-famous French toast --- and the best Tangerine mimosas anywhere". So if you would like some of the finest food or entertainment in San Diego, whether it be a restaurant with a "long history --- world-famous French toast --- and the best Tangerine mimosas anywhere," contact me by e-mail. Just remember, if you are on a budget, there are plenty of travel guides out there relying on GPS, and so you might try them.

My cell phone chimed… while Barb and I were waiting for Dinner “it’s in a shabby Antique Mall” I hear Mitch say. No, we were not “Geocaching!” - San Diego Blog Says: April 12th, 2007 at 11:44 am

[...] Barb and I were enjoying the soothing comfort and relaxing at Croce's Restaurant, located in the heart of the San Diego historic Gaslamp Quarter. While we were sipping "Tangerine mimosas" and waiting for dinner to arrive my cell phone chimed. I don't usually take calls during dinner, but the number calling told me it was Mitch and I was anxious to see if he had come across an antique Japanese wooden shodana. Barb has been looking for one and I had asked Mitch to be watchful for one. [...]
