Bars & Clubs in Sacramento

I heard somebody mumbling something about which restaurant has the best carnitas in Sacramento. I thought I'd just clear that up. My husband, a man whose somewhat frightening obsession with carnitas has led us to most Mexican eating establishments in the tri-county area, has spent our 6 years in Sacramento trying to solve this very same perplexing question. He has absolutely tried all carnitas available in Sacramento, and swears, and ...

Not that I know all the things you can do in Sac. But I'm young, and I live in Sac, and so do all my friends, and these are the things we think are cool. So, if you are in Sacramento and looking for fun, I recommend the following:
1.) Read my blog about DIVE BARS.
2.) Read my blog about PLACES TO HEAR MUSIC.

Old Ironsides: Old I is the place to be on Tuesday nights, when local dj’s spin; it’s called “Lipstik” and it rocks; this is one of the oldest bars in Sac, and it’s crammed and somewhat smelly. excellent dancing opportunities ...

A dive: "a drinking establishment (or sometimes a restaurant) with a dated or run-down appearance and atmosphere....in a dive, the drinks tend to be cheap...but frequently are of a high alcohol content (Wikipedia).

It's sad, for instance, when an ancient walnut tree is destroyed or when a long-standing business like Crown Cleaners in East Sacramento meets ...

For more than a decade I worked out of a small, midtown office on J Street. For a few years during that time, the Sacramento State University men's basketball team played its home games at Memorial Auditorium.
I've always appreciated midtown, but its pleasantness was further enhanced on nights when I left work early, stopped for dinner on the way to a game and then walked back ...

Some nights, after everything else closes, people head over to INK Eats and Drinks, because it stays open until 4 am. But INK is also good place to visit by day, for a late afternoon lunch or early dinner. With great light streaming in from nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, you don't feel like you're shut away in a dark bar. Dining room and bar blend into one, offering almost everyone ...
