Best dives in Sacramento
A dive: "a drinking establishment (or sometimes a restaurant) with a dated or run-down appearance and atmosphere....in a dive, the drinks tend to be cheap...but frequently are of a high alcohol content (Wikipedia).
Here are a few of my favorites in Sacramento:
The Raven (A.K.A The Dirty Bird) - best dive in Sac. small and cramped, great jukebox, friendly locals and the coolest bartender ever. tons of locals. and nice ones. 3246 J St, Sacramento.
So Cal’s -- so the pool tables are a little slanted and the cues are a bit curvy --- there's a huge T.V. for sports viewing and a great juke box. there's even an outdoor smoking patio (where up to 15 people have managed to cram). I love this place. 5200 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento.
Torch Club – "Known from Maine to Spain for blues and booze." Need I say more? 904 15th St, Sacramento. www.torchclub.net
Pine Cove Tavern -- young crowd, loud music, tons of people. 502 29th Street, Sacramento.
Bonnlair - a pub. full of locals and really loud talking. 3651 J Street. www.bonnlair.com.
Flame Club --- REALLY cheap and strong beverages. a square room with a big bar, tables a jukebox. will be hoppin' with the indie kids Thurs. thru Sun. 2130 16th Street, Sacramento.
