Sacramento Art Mixed with Food and Drink
Some nights, after everything else closes, people head over to INK Eats and Drinks, because it stays open until 4 am. But INK is also good place to visit by day, for a late afternoon lunch or early dinner. With great light streaming in from nearly floor-to-ceiling windows, you don't feel like you're shut away in a dark bar. Dining room and bar blend into one, offering almost everyone a nice view of the flat screen and a chance to catch current sports scores.
Try the Patty Melt on marble rye or the Meatloaf sandwich. Plates arrive with civilized cups of ketchup for the fries, and a signature dash of marinated cucumbers. If you're from back East, you might want to order "Sliders" and see how they compare to the ones back home. This is where you can find the Belgian Pilsner, Stella Artois, and a wild assortment of mixed drinks, including a Cheesecake Martini.
INK refers, of course, to tattoo art, and there is plenty to take in, from Eric's work on the ceiling, to Robert Gordon pieces on the walls, to a mural by famous local performance artist, David Garibaldi. The colorful art is framed by wood ceiling beams, and offset by deep red walls.
Enjoy good food and friendly staff, with just the right volume of music that allows for conversation. If you're planning a particularly important conversation, ask to be seated in the quirky little alcove off the bar, and enjoy extra privacy.
