Taco Rosa is truly a hidden gem. Though a little off the beaten path the cozy atmosphere and delicious meals of savory Mexican food have yet to be bested by any other Mexican restaurant I've found here in the O.C. (and there are quite a few).

Think staying in a romantic Laguna Beach hotel right on the Pacific Coast Highway will cost too much?

La Casa del Camino is certainly not the largest or most publicized hotel in Laguna, but between the dark wood, orchid and candle lined lobby of this Spanish mission style hotel in the heart of Laguna Beach is definitely a great place to spend a relaxing weekend. Oh, and did I mention the roof-top bar with sunset views?

This classic hotel was built in 1927 just a few blocks south of Laguna's Main Beach and less than half a block to ocean. The Spanish style hotel doesn't leave you with an overwhelming or sterile-hotel feeling like major chain hotels. Instead it feels more like you are staying at the home of a wealthy relative as you navigate the stair cases up to the roof-top bar and patio. I highly recommend catching a sunset drink or light dinner here if you are staying anywhere else in Laguna Beach.

Speaking of food... La Casa del Camino hosts a great little restaurant called Savoury's. Savory is right with menu selections such as Petite Filet & Slipper Lobster Tails in port wine for just $32 (one of the more pricy menu items) you will be well fed without breaking the bank (call for reservations).

If you are inclined to bring home a doggy bag from the restaurant, you won't have to carry it very far. La Casa del Camino is a pet friendly hotel which will even arrange pet sitting and walking services, or give you a map of local places to enjoy with your pet while you stay with them. The standard economy room runs about $120 a night which given the location, ambiance and accommodations (spa and fitness facilities are on site) is really the best deal I've found in all of Laguna Beach.
