Are you looking for romantic fine dining in Laguna Beach? Just steps from the beach, fine dining in the style of a cool jazzy 1940's restaurant can be found a French 75.
The champagne bar and live jazz Wednesday through Sunday nights, gourmet French cuisine, an extensive wine list and an outdoor dining patio complete with fireplace makes this one of the most romantic restaurants I have been to in all of Laguna Beach.
A real perk for those interested in champagne sampling is their 15 different champagnes served by the glass. This restaurant is a little more upscale than some of the more casual places I've written about in this blog. No 'Beach Attire' is allowed, though I walked in with flopflops (cute skirt and top) and they didn't turn me away at 6pm. Later crowds though are certainly better dressed.
I tried their duck sampler, Three-way duck which was rich in three differently prepaired duck meat and made my mouth water. Coq au Vin, chicken cooked in wine, was prepaired for my date who enjoyed every last bite.
The service was impeccable, all of the staff was friendly and prepaired to make wine and desert suggestions.
