Summer Reading for Children

The Newport Beach Public Library is my favourite library system that I have patronized in the world.  The library system consists of four branches, each one different and unique.

The main library is on Avocado close to Fashion Island.  Mariner's is the newest facility built with proceeds from the Cream family.  Situated on Irvine Avenue, this library is attached to an elementary school and has a great children's room.  Pat and Stuart are always ready to help you pick a title.  It is hard say whether I like Balboa or CDM branch more.  Balboa branch is located on the Balboa Pennisula-you can check out a book and then go enjoy it on the beach.  CDM is in the heart of CDM.  Hiedi is the best librarian a  library has to offer.  She knows all her patrons by name and is always willing to listen.

With that all said-here is a list of juvenile bestsellers based on their checkout at the library

Bridge to Terbithia by Katherine Paterson

The Penderwick:A summer tale of four sitsters, two rabbits and a very interesting boy by Jeanne Birdsail

The Invention of Hugo Carbret: A Novel in words and Pictures by Brian Selznick

Inkheart by Cornelia Caroline Funke

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

The Tale of Desperequx:Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, some Soup and  spool of Thread by Kate DiCamillo
