Flea Market Extravaganza

For over 38 years there has been a monthly event going on in Pasadena that only the shopping elite are aware of. From every day people to celebrities, they visit this remarkable gathering in hopes of finding the ultimate shopping items at great low prices. This event is so huge, it only happens the second Sunday of every month: The Rose Bowl Flea Market. With over ...

Melrose Trading Post

A friend turned me on to the Trading Post a few years ago. Located in the expansive parking lot of the famous Fairfax High School (note-worthy alums include Demi Moore, Carol Lombard, Mickey Rooney, Phil Spector, and my personal favorite, the Red Hot Chili Peppers) at Fairfax and Melrose. It costs $2 to get in ($1 for students with a valid ID), but it goes to the student ...

The REAL Santa Monica

The REAL Santa Monica

by: Matt Tucker

So you want the real scoop on Santa Monica while you are in LA? Well, here goes...most of the locals stay away from the Promenade. It is a tourist TRAP and (therefore) the homeless tend to congregate there. Don't get me wrong, the monkey on a leash that ...

Welcome to L.A.

I've lived in and around L.A. for most of my adult life. I'm not from here and am often asked how it is I contend with all the crazies and the weirdos by my family back home. Easy enough - I had lots of practice growing up!

I love Los Angeles because of the endless variety of things to do spread out over hundreds of square miles. I ...

What to do in Santa Monica

No trip to Santa Monica would be complete without a walk down the Promenade, that's three blocks of uninterrupted shopping and entertainment.

The pedestrian zone is just two blocks back from the beach and runs between Broadway and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The streets are lined with singers and performers who'll accompany your stroll around the shops or trip to the cinema.

There's also great places to eat, including the Broadway Deli - a particular ...

Little Bohemia - Coffee Shops, Boutiques, and Restaurants

As I am now gainfully unemployed and have embarked on sharing with you all my insider's knowledge of Los Angeles, I thought I would take this debut post to share with you one of my favorite tucked-away parts of Los Angeles.

Living in the heart of Hollywood, I've recently decided to explore what my own neighborhood has to offer besides B-rated Thai restaurants and the Scientology Celebrity Centre (5930 Franklin, for ...

The Adorable Zanzabelle: Candy, Ice Cream, Sodas and Gifts

If you are a sucker for a vintage board of Candy Land, or possibly day dream about clouds of pastel cotton candy, you will definitely want to visit Zanzabelle of Silver Lake for a strong dose of that sugary good vibe.  The minute you see the life size giraffe sculpture in the picket fenced front lawn of this little gingerbread-esque house,  your heart will skip a beat in anticipation for what lies inside.

 Good for both kiddies ...

Authentic New Orleans Flavor On Tap at The G.P.

Until somewhat recently, my food adventures included a touch of snob factor.  One of these snooty notions was that a mass collection of food spots one on top of the other (what mall rats might call a "food court̶ ;) was not only a daunting experience to land upon when hungry....but also that the quality within these mini express-style establishments couldn't possibly be any good.

Leave it to California and its lovely city Los Angeles to ...
