Flea Market Extravaganza
For over 38 years there has been a monthly event going on in Pasadena that only the shopping elite are aware of. From every day people to celebrities, they visit this remarkable gathering in hopes of finding the ultimate shopping items at great low prices. This event is so huge, it only happens the second Sunday of every month: The Rose Bowl Flea Market. With over 2,200 vendors selling everything from antiques to new merchandise (and everything in between). How could you go home empty-handed? If you love to shop, this is the place for you!
Not planning on spending any cash? Possibly looking to sell some things that have been sitting in your garage taking-up space? Whether you brought some things from home or bought them there at the flea market, you can have your items appraised at no additional cost. Just show them your admission ticket and the appraising will commence. But get ready to stand in line for a while. Though the wait is a bit long, it is well worth it. People have walked away with items they originally purchased for $1 that turned out to be worth $1,200! It's truly amazing.
I had the opportunity to visit last month with a friend and it was an experience we will have to re-live every month from now on. Though parking was a little hectic and the lines a little long, it was well worth it. If you want to really see everything they have to offer plan on spending most of your day at the flea market; otherwise you might miss out on some fantastic bargains. Also, bring a snack and a big bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated and energized.
Parking is free in all lots. Sorry, Fido has to stay home this Sunday, sadly pets are not allowed. The Rose Bowl Flea Market regular admission starts at 9:00a.m. for the general public at $8.00 per person, children under 12 admission is free. The box office is open until 3:00p.m. after which sellers begin packing and leaving. The public may shop for those last minute bargains until 4:30p.m. (Special group rates are available.)
