Surf Your Way to the OC
One of the best ways to spend a beautiful sunny Southern California spring day is at a ballgame. I mean, nothing says spring like baseball. Well, maybe rain does, but this is Los Angeles!
Here in Los Angeles, we have two baseball teams: The Los Angeles Dodgers and The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Seeing the Dodgers always seemed easier to me since they are actually here in L.A., but it turns out that catching an Angel game in Orange County is actually pretty easy as well!
From downtown L.A. at beautiful Union Station you can take a train to see an Angel game. The Pacific Surfliner takes you directly to Angel Stadium. I’m not talking a bus ride away from Angel Stadium, nor a long walk. I’m talking a stumble away. The train actually drops you off in the parking lot of the stadium! You can drink away on the train and stumble in your four inch heals right up to the ticket guy. I did. And if nothing says spring like baseball, nothing says baseball like hot dogs and beer. After nine innings of hot dogs and the beer to wash them down, you can crawl on back to your designated driver, the engineer.
The Surfliner has frequent trains both going to Anaheim and coming back. It’s ten dollars each way and takes about 45 minutes to get to the stadium. For more information on trains visit www.amtrak.com, and for more information Angels games visit http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com.
This is just one of the best ways to spend a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon. So spring into action, hop on the Surfliner, and don’t forget to root, root, root for the home team!
