Regardless if you're feeling m'excellent or indie-fabulous, downtown's La Cita is yours
Long before LA's most reclusive hipster starlets infiltrated the bustling heart of downtown LA, La Cita was a staple for quality tequila and two-stepping the night away. If you show up later in the weekend, you're likely to think you're in Amarillo or at least Long Beach's Cowboy Country--Saturday & Sunday are Hacienda Nights, and the dress code is mostly plaids and spurs. But hit the LC up any Thursday or Friday and you're likely to think you're in CBGB if it were in Mexico City. La Cita has flourished under the steady line-up of local radio guest DJs, and under the auspices of the likes of Jason Mason & Co. during Friday's Punky's Regae Parties. The ceilings are low, the lighting is a panoply of reds, and the patio in the back is extensive enough to accomodate anyone who wants sexy distance from a recent dance floor hook-up. Beer selection is decent and the tequilas won't disappoint at any stage of sobriety. Parking is rough and walking in packs is still a good idea, but the proximity to Sunset and the freeways is excellent. And if you're really feeling like a troubadour, the Metro is just across the street.
