Nothing's Bigger Than Amoeba
Just when you think the world has become nothing but an endless sea of corporations along comes the royal line of all independent stores – Amoeba Music. Servicing the community since the 90’s Amoeba Music has acted as a focal point for creative minds in the ever-bustling city of Hollywood.
Erected on Sunset Strip in the downtown area next to the Entertainment District, which bustles with fresh innovative thinking, Amoeba proudly stands as a testament to local artistry. Offering the community a plethora of records that are mainstream as well as a underground, lesser known artists in a variety of forms, whether they are cd’s or lp’s. Also catering to the needs to the area’s love for cinematic features the store presents a wide array of cult, classic, and modern films.
Not only acting as a place of purchase for anyone looking to spend some dough, the store works as a venue providing a stage for many bands. Ranging from local, unsigned artists to major label, widely known bands Amoeba truly provides and supports the artist. This not only supports the artist, but provides the community a chance to hear and experience something that they never would.
Working now as not only a venue but a record label itself Amoeba now searches, signs, supports, and pays musical talent.
Never ignoring global concerns Amoeba also provides for the community in more endearing sense by donating a percentage of annual profits to the Rainforest Action Network and has helped raise money for AIDS, Hurricane Katrina, and Tsunami 2004 victims.
A big time ma-and-pa store with concerns that are bigger then its pocket book and a measure of acceptance that is hard to find anywhere else.
