Belmont Shores Third Annual Chocolate Festival
Valentine's Day is rapidly approaching, but chocoholics can get an early fix at Belmont Shore’s third annual Chocolate Festival. If you’ll be visiting the Second Street area of Belmont Shores (the 14-block commercial district between Bayshore and E. Livingston), be sure to check out the event.
Festivities will take place between 1:00pm and 4:00pm, and will feature more than just sweets. Local radio station 93.1 Jack FM will broadcast live from the event to entertain festival goers with its popular format of eclectic and unpredictable play lists.
According to Brooke Kennard, one of the event’s organizers, participating businesses will be handing out candy, cookies, brownies, dipped fruit, cupcakes, peanut butter, and much more. Confirmed participants include local merchants BJ’s Pizza, Blue Window, Buffalo Exchange, Caffe la Strada, Frosted Cupcakery, Provence Boulangerie, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Salon Soma, Shore Books, Sunshine on Second, Sweet Jill’s, Anton’s Cigars, and Whiskers pet store.
Local bakers will have the opportunity to show off their talents and their wares in a baking competition. The festival will also host a chocolate pie eating contest for children, which will begin at 3:30pm in front of the Washington Mutual building. Ages for the children’s contest range from 5 to 16.
