Surf City not only offers awesome surfing and beautiful beaches. Did you know you can also tour the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve? Since the restoration project was completed in the fall of 2006, which reestablished the natural ebb and flow of water between the Pacific Ocean and the wetlands area, birds are flocking to the Huntington Beach wetlands. You can see brown pelicans in groups of 5 or 6 as well as black skimmers in groups of up to 30 at a time. You will also see plants and animals indigenous to the area. You are welcome to hike on your own or take a free tour with Amigos del Bolsa Chica on the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM (Tel:714-840-1575). There is free parking; no pets or bikes are allowed on the tour.

If he (or she!) dreams of sunwashed beaches and salty sprays from the beautiful Pacific, leave the leash at home and bring your pup to the only beach in Huntington that allows your pet beach access! Dog Beach is located in Huntington City Beach on Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint Street and Golden West Street. Here your canine can romp leash free on the sand and in the water. There are sanitary stations located nearby that offer free plastic bags for you to clean up after your pooch (a must!) There is street parking as well as parking lots, all metered. Dog Beach is approximately one mile north of the Huntington Beach Pier.

When you're looking for something a little different than shopping, people watching, or dining downtown, take a half block detour off Main Street and stop in at the Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum for a trip down surfing's memory lane! Anyone who appreciates the sport of surfing will enjoy the packed museum's offerings of surfing memorabilia and culture surrounding this time-honored sport. Rotating exhibits ensure repeat visitors will find something new every time. Locals and tourists alike have been surfing in Huntington Beach for the last century, all due to the Father of Surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, who frequented Huntington Beach and introduced the sport of surfing and surfboards to the locals. This small and internationally recognized museum built a shrine to honor Duke, including a statue of his smiling face surrounded by fragrant tropical flowers, which sits just inside the museum entrance. You'll find the vibe of Huntington Beach from years past here, as well as all kinds of surfing items and CD's for sale. Call before visiting as the museum is volunteer run and operating hours are a little erratic.

Regardless of your subject matter, your first stop should be Bills Camera (6022 Warner Ave). With competitive prices and unbeatable customer service, photographer from amature to pro will find something new and drool-worthy at Bills.

After purchasing a new Canon A640, Todd invited me to come back for one-on-one run-through of all the cameras functions and features, a wonderful bonus that certinly won't be found at any online camera retailer.

The forecast is calling for another gorgeous weekend here in Huntington Beach and if you lucky enough to be able to get out and enjoy it I suggest going for a stroll down the world famous pier. At 1,853 feet, it is actually the longest municipal pier on the west coast. Although it has been destroyed three times since 1912, it now made of reinforced concrete and built to withstand just about anything mother nature can throw this way. You'll enjoy a birds-eye view of surfers catching waves down below at one of Orange Countys favorite surf spots, Or see what the local fishermen are catching.

Once you reach the end of the pier you might notice you've worked up quite an appetite, luckily, the friendly staff at Rubys will be waiting to greet you. This 40's style diner offers unmatched views of the ocean, and if you're there at the right time, breathtaking sunsets. Rubys serves up favorites such as the flavorful Hickory burger with shoestring fries. Dont forget to save room for dessert. Warm apple pie, or a thick shake are the perfect ending to any meal. And with14 unique shake flavors there's is sure to be something to please even the pickiest diner. If a full meal isnt your thing the walk-up window located on the front of the building is a great place to grab a quick snack.

Metered parking is available along Main Street and PCH. Several parking lots are also available between PCH and the beach. Rubys validates parking for the garage located on the north side of Walnut at Main.
