CHINESE RESTAURANTS, WE LIKE THE ONES IN FOSTER CITY, CALIFORNIA
The other day my wife said to me, "We haven't had Chines food for a long time--let's have it tonight?" I looked at her, thinking, I don't like Chinese food because what happened in Berkeley, California, before we got married.
On a Saturday night(1976) we went to Berkeley, California, to meet friends and to have dinner; we all decided to have Chinese food. Our friends said that they know of a good, old fashion Chinese restaurant.
After we parked our cars, in an alley and walked to the restaurant, we walked in to find several tables full of people eating and talking loudly. Near the door was an old desk, several cabinets, and an old Chinese gentleman sitting at a table adding something on an abacus, a frame with sliding beads for doing arithmetic.
After we sat down to eat, our friends ordered our meal--starting with fish. The fish head was still on it and the "eyes" seem to be looking at me and my wife, which made us very sick. Every time my wife says, "Let's have Chinese food tonight!" I see these fish "eyes" staring at me.
Not to have an argument with my wife, I said, "Ok, but you order it." In Foster City, California, there are four Chinese restaurants. They all have good food, but there's one that we prefer for take out, it's off of Edgewater Blvd.
We, usually, order "Dinner A", or if we do not want to eat to much, individual dishes. We have had Chinese food that was over cooked, expressed cook--cooked real fast and was still under cooked, in our opinion: and food that you can't resist eating because the taste made you eat more than your stomach can hold. This Foster City Chinese restaurant, in our opinion, has food you can't resist because it is very tasty.
We enjoy the sweet and sour pork, chicken with broccoli, beef with broccoli, and a dish of fried rice. These take outs, when ordered, are ready when they say they would be--there is no waiting.
It has been three decades since our experience in Berkeley, California, and I have, again, started to eat Chinese food. When you are in Foster City, California, look in the local phone book, and remember, all the Chinese restaurant have good food, but, like I said, we prefer a restaurant off of Edgewater in Foster City.
