TIPPING, WHAT SEEMS TO BE PROPER

Have you ever wondered what to tip a person when you are on a trip? If a bellboy helps you take your clothes into your room, what do you tip him or her? When you are at a restaurant, what do you tip if you got good service or bad service? In otherwords, what is the going rate for tipping? This question I have been asking for a long time.

Tipping can be one of the biggest problems that a traveler has, since customs vary in different parts of the world. Tipping is supposed to be very personal: it is your way of expressing your appreciation for service that someone has performed for you. Today, it seems that it's a demand that is thrown onto a person when they are away from home.

In many parts of the world, the hired help receives very little for their work, or service, and tipping is just another way of earning money. By and large, services that you usually receive are good and the going rate of 15% is expected, but if the service is bad, then the person should be tipped accordingly.

If the service is really bad, then to indicate your feelings, you should only leave a few cents. Although, this might seem cruel, but that person would know that his service was not any good.

These are only a few of the facts about tippping that a traveler should know or can expect when traveling. Just remember the basic thing about tipping, that is, you tip for a service that is rendered.

If you think that tipping is not called for because the service that you recieved, then the proper thing is not to tip at all; in otherwords, it's up to you. In some countries tipping is not permitted; therefore, you should find out about tipping before you take your trip.
