Plaza Hof Brau, Arden-Arcade (Sacramento)


Are you the type of person who fancies presentation, expensive tablecloths, and places with Michelin ratings?

Then Plaza Hof Brau clearly is not for you.

Tower Bridge


Not named after the now-defunct record store chain or the Tower District which gave the CD and vinyl stores their name...the lift bridge connecting West Sacramento with downtown Sacramento serves as the most striking of the Sacramento River crossings.

According to http://home.pacbell.net/hywaymn/tower_bridge_history.htm this was a Depression-era project, built in 1935 to serve US Highway 40 and US Highway 99W.  24 years younger than the I Street Bridge to the north ...

Sacramento Water Intake Facility


What's a water plant doing on the list of "attractions" here?

Well, when it does double duty as a bit of a public park in the middle of the Sacramento River, that's why I'm listing it.  The boat-shaped structure seamlessly integrates functional design with a concern for aesthetics, with great views of downtown, the Tower Bridge, recreational boaters, and the waterfront itself from what is a de facto pier.
