The Sawdust Festival is an annual arts and crafts festival that has found its home in Laguna Beach for the past 40 years. Local artists display their photography, paintings, jewelry and crafts. For those that are bitten by the creativity bug-they can participate in workshops. The festival has daily entertainment.

Costa Mesa Wasting Tax Payer Dollars

The city of Costa Mesa must have access to unlimited funds. The city is appealing a case that was initially rejected for filing by the District Attorney's Office and then dismissed by the court when the city prosecutor presented the case. Benito Acosta was ejected from a city council meeting for supposedly being disruptive.
What is the city's issue with this individual that they want him prosecuted so badly. Twice the city has failed and now more tax dollars are being spent. Give Up-concede you do not have a case and stop wasting tax dollars.

Daily Pilot Faces Budget Cut

It seems that the economy is affecting everyone and the Daily Pilot is no exception. For those that are not familiar with the paper-it is the local paper for Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. The paper is great as it promotes local businesses and let's readers know what is happening in their city.
Starting last week the paper cut out their Monday edition. If you want to catch up with what is happening in the area on Mondays, readers must now log on to The Daily Pilot.
Too bad, unfortunately reading a paper on line is just not the same as sitting down at the breakfast table with it.

Salmonella Scare continues

The Salmonella scare is still on. The expression Rotten Tomato has taken on a whole new definition. So far they are saying you can eat tomatos off the vine It is rather unfortunate as this is tomato season and the tomatos and red and plump.

Next week I am flying home and am not sure what to expect beyond the usual bad service. I know I need to be at the airport bright and early-I hope they do not expect me to be cheery-it is hard to be cheery when I have not had a proper breakfast and am subjected to dumb questions and even dumber searching at the airport. I was in Phoenix a month ago and had my humas confiscated-it has officially been labeled the food of terrorists. It would be nice if just some bread was passed around and maybe a smile. Thank you because without your business-YES YOU THE CUSTOMER we could not have a business.oeprdyi

A new store Napa Style is coming to South Coast Plaza. The store appears to be a kitchen and food store with furniture. From it's website it looks interesting. The store is opening on Friday June 13th, there will be cooking demonstrations and free tastings all day.

$4.45 for Premium Gas!!!!!

A few weeks ago the headlines read gas approaching $4.00. I could still find gas for around $3.89 if I was crafty in when are where I filled up-then it jumped to over $4.00 but there was still a gas station at #3.99. Now it is at $4.45-what happens when the price of crude dips-why do we not see a reduction at the tank. Because the gas companies are greedy pigs-posting record profits-and here in Southern California drivers are too in love with their cars.

In the 70's there were massive demonstrations. However now people just complain complacently. People should be complaining loudly and demonstratining. Be smart in your driving-car pool when you can and stop contributing to the profit and greed of others.

Fish Fry

Plums Restaurant

What seemed like a fun way to start the morning on this Memorial Day Weekend literally turned into a headache. My husband and I decided to go to Plums Restaurant on 17th Street for breakfast. Bad mistake.

We sat down for breakfast and asked not to be seated near any families with children. The place was crawling with children. We were told it would be quieter to sit outside. We went to order-I requested tea. They did not have any specialty teas, only black. No Earl Grey or English Breakfast or anything of the sort. For $3.00 a cup I expect something more than Liptons tea. So I decided to stick with just water. No offense to Liptons but I do not really like it. My water came in a dirty glass. I requested another glass of water with a straw. All I received was another dirty glass of water.

I ordered the specialty omlette. Rather pricey at $13.00. The omlette was large with lots of ham, mushrooms, spinach, cheese and tomatos. However it was rather bland.

By the time we left-and I could not leave soon enough-the children were screeching and their parents obviously not schooled in discipline did not see any reason to take them away from the dining area had given me a massive headache.

Total bill was $35.00. Rather expensive. Too many children and did not taste all that good.
