Only in the US do we have a day for everything and sure enough even popcorn has it's own day. I was sitting down reading the newspaper this morning when I learned that popcorn is celebration with National Popcorn Day on the same day we remember Martin Luther King.

Tonight The Grove in LA will be lighting their Christmas Tree at 7:30 p.m. I realize that LA is not Orange County and yes this means getting on the 405 and driving. The OC Fair has opened today with BB King kicking off with a performance tonight. The theme of this years fair is Say Cheese. The fair will run until August 3rd. and is open noon to midnight Tuesday through Sunday. Admission to the fair is $9.00 for adults and $5 for children 6 thru 12.

The Sawdust Festival is an annual arts and crafts festival that has found its home in Laguna Beach for the past 40 years. Local artists display their photography, paintings, jewelry and crafts. For those that are bitten by the creativity bug-they can participate in workshops. The festival has daily entertainment.

Costa Mesa's own band paper Thin Walls will be taking to the stage tonight at The Detroit Bar. The band had won a contest to play at the party following the Led Zeppelin reuion show in London in December.
The show will take the stage at 10 P.m. at 843 W. 19th Street. Costa Mesa tonight.
