Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Relin
For those of you who love to read, I highly recommend Three Cups of Tea. Should you not be in the habit of read, pick up Three Cups of Tea and start reading. You will enjoy the story about Mortenson's efforts in Pakistan and Afghanistan to build schools. To date he has built 64 schools.
Penguin Books, the publisher is donating seven percent of the proceeds to Central Asia Institute, the institute that monitors the money and work. What started of as a dream to build one school has morphed into a life long dedication that has been able to education thousands of children.
Mortenson was nursed back to health by the villagers of Korphe after failing to summit K2. He was so moved by their hospitality that he dedicated himself to bringing a school to their village.
Mortenson strongly believes that if you can educate the children of nations such as Pakistan and Afghanistan their education will take them a long way.
Donations are essential to the success of building more schools. $1.00 will keep a student in school for a month or pay a teacher's daily salary. Tax free deductions can be made to www.ikat.org or you can call 1 406-585-7841.
