Mitsuwa
Mitsuwa is a grocery store unlike any store you have visited before. You may wonder why I am sending you to a grocery store. Does not really seem like a tourist attraction to you. Mitsuwa is a Japanese grocery store.
Navigating the store can be slightly confusing and intimidating. The first time I visited it, was with my cookbook in hand. I was making Vietanmese food and knew they would have what I needed. And they did. Finding what I needed was another story. Many of the ingrediants are imported from Japan. Reading Japanese is not one of my many talents. Fear not, I found customers that were willing to help.
If you want your food ready made, then visit one of the counters and select your sushi, dim sum, wontons, potstickers or other prepared food. The store also sells every type of cooking accessory you may need to help you cook an Asian meal.
Should you be looking to get some Japanese desserts there is a great pastry counter that has many lovely desserts in beautifully wrapped boxes.
Even should you not buy anything, Mitsuwa is an adventure in shopping that you will enjoy.
They are on Paularino in Costa Mesa.
