Lukewarm Shopping at South Coast Plaza

While the weather outside maybe breezy and cold the sales at the mall are lukewarm at best.  A quick trip to the mall confirmed this.  There was plenty of parking and the shops were not crowded.

Store owners at are quite disappointed by the action at the cash register. Traditionally the day after Christmas is a busy day with lines and plenty of rings at the cash register.  But this year is not so.

I am not surprised.  When one of the feature headlines in the newspaper is expect to pay $4.00 at the pump in the New Year that does not put me in the mood to shop.  Grocery prices are up, they are blaming it on the gas, but I do not see prices coming down when the gas drops.  The housing market just stinks.  I have been saving my pennies in hope of buying a larger home when the prices drop.  Good old Bush is going to bail out the overspenders who bought a house that they could not afford.  Why should I spend money at the mall?

Does anyone want to carpool?
