Stretch into Yoga

Yoga is one of my more favourite forms of exercise.  It empowers both the mind and the body.  After each session of yoga, I find my mind relaxed and my body rejuvenated.  The power of yoga is that it combines meditation and relaxation with breathing and stretching.  Yoga works your core (your tummy that likes to slouch and puff out) and tones the body.  Once you start you will find yourself addicted.  Your body will stand taller, your core will be tucked under and your mind will soar peacefully.

Presently, Yogaworks is offering an introductory rate of 2 weeks of Yoga for $30.  Thus will give particpants to try out the different classes.  There are different styles of yoga and it is important to find out what style is best suited for you.  There are also different levels of yoga.  If you have never taken a yoga class before then it is important to start with a beginner class to familiarize yourself with the different poses.  This will ensure that you will be able to flow between the poses as you progress to more advanced classes.

A good instructor in a beginner class will spend time explaining the pose and ensuring that the student's form is accurate.  You always want correct form both to ensure you are achieving the maximum benefit from your practice and to protect your body.  Remember to always have your knee behing your big toe.

In Orange County Yogaworks have five locations, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach.  Two of my favourite instructors at the Costa Mesa location are Rona and Geo.  They both lead fun classes and are quite popular with their students.
