St. Joachim Spring Fiesta

I have never attended a service at this church but have driven past it numerous times and it always seems that there is something happening at this church. Sometimes it is a wedding, other times it is parishioners gathering after mass, mass on Sunday always has food available, the ladies set up tables of food, occasionaly it is a funeral; the church is always alive with activity.

For those of you who do not know Costa Mesa, it is home to a large Hispanic population. The church definately seems to meet the needs of the community. A few years ago when one of the first servicemen was killed in Iraq the community gathered together and his funeral was held at this church.

Going by the chruch and seeing the front steps always crowded with people is a welcoming site. On May 19th and 20th the church is having it's Spring Fiesta. There will be entertainment and food of course, a rock climbing wall and activities for the young and old. I have seen the festival many years before in the past.

This year I may just stop in and check it out.

Seperate from the festival but being held the same weekend, the church is having a rummage sale. They are encouraging people to bring in their donations in advance.

St. Joachim is located at 1964 Orange Ave., Costa Mesa, CA 92627 (949) 574-7400.
