Restaurant Review # 2: Soda Fountain Lovers Won’t Want to Miss a Visit to Ruby’s Diner
Ruby’s Diner has a huge presence along the Southern California coastline. Locals have frequented the chain restaurant since the 1980s, and many agree that the main draw is Ruby’s line-up of scrumptious shakes and malts. The diner has 14 varieties of shakes to tempt the taste buds. Some of the more unusual varieties include Pineapple, Black Cherry, Mocha, and Black Forest. My personal favorite is the Chocolate-Banana shake which consists of a chocolate shake with chunks of fresh banana, a maraschino cherry, and whipped cream. Soda lovers have two choices. One may opt for Ruby’s Root Beer Float, or the diner can get a flavor add-on for his or her Coke. Add-on flavors choices are Cherry, Vanilla, Lemon, or Chocolate. Visitors to North San Diego can find a number of Ruby’s Diner locations. Beachgoers can enjoy views of the waves at the Oceanside Pier location, and shoppers can visit the diner at the Carlsbad Premium outlet center. Be sure to bring an appetite.
