The Tucson Boneyards
Did the title pique your interest? The Tucson "Boneyards" are where retired aircrafts are parked, scrapped or used as aircraft storage areas. If you fly into Tucson and you happen to get an aerial view of these thousands of aircraft you will be astonished. It might remind you of all of those miniture airplanes and fighter jets you lined up in rows as a child...times hundreds.
Not far from there is the Pima Air and Space Museum. I plan to go this weekend so I'll give you an update soon. It is the largest Air and Space Museum in the Western United States. On display are over 250 military and civilian aircraft including the sleek supersonic, SR-71 Blackbird "Spy Plane" (my favorite) and President Kennedy's Air Force One, available for visitors to climb aboard and tour.
