Verde Canyon Railroad

There's a town about half an hour outside of Sedona called Clarkdale that in modern times is known mostly for one thing --- The Verde Canyon Railroad. This attraction is an excellent way to site-see in the area. Having ridden the railroad three separate times, first-class is highly recommended and well worth the extra cost.

The train starts in Clarkdale and makes a leisurely two-hour 20-mile trip to Perkinsville. During this journey, many features of the canyon are revealed, including an active bald eagle's nest. The eagles themselves can often be spotted, depending on the time of year. The rail follows the Verde River with its extremely scenic views of red rock mountains, cool clear waters, and plenty of wildlife. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating, and they're happy to answer any questions you may have about the region.

Once the train arrives in Perkinsville, the direction is switched and you're taken back another two hours to the train station. This attraction is definitely a must-do at least once, with plenty of photo opportunities. Don't forget to pick up a souvenir back at the station!
