Clear Liquid Gold

If you're into finding little known secrets, especially free ones, then you're in luck.  Ever since I travelled to Sedona with my parents in the late 70s, I've always liked visiting one particular location for it's clear delicious water.  On 89A about halfway between Sedona and Flagstaff just south of the switchbacks, you can find some of the best water you've ever tasted.

When I first visited this place, the water came out of the ground by means of a small hand pump.  We used to fill our cups with water whenever we passed by this area.  Over time, the means of extracting the water has changed.  Up until a few years ago, a pipe came out of the ground with water pumped through it continuously.  Apparently, this became so popular (as popular as a site with free water can be, I suppose) that a second pipe was needed.

If you visit it today, on the west side of 89A near a commercial campground, you'll find a concreted rock structure with two pipes exposed, both of which have water flooding out of them continuously.  If you stop by this area now, you're almost guaranteed to find someone there with a truckload of 5-gallon water containers collecting as much of this clear liquid gold as they can.
