Verde Valley Biking Trails

Sedona has agreed to join a regional committee to build bicycle trails throughout Verde Valley.  This committee will focus on assessing current trails, planning for future trails, maintaining consistency, and providing for the entire Verde Valley.

Sedona is promoted as being a healthy and outdoors-oriented place to live, so it's odd that the city isn't more bike-friendly.  Over the next few years, more efforts will be focused on increasing bicycle use, ...

Vortexes

Sedona is said to have a very high spiritual energy, and attracts many visitors each year specifically for this reason.  These energies are referred to as Vortexes, and are located in specific areas of Sedona.  These areas include Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Airport Mesa, and Boynton Canyon.  So what is it that causes a vortex?

Some look at it from a scientific view.  Sedona's landscape has a very high iron content, ...

Soothing Sedona Massages

Northern Arizona Massage Therapy Institute, otherwise known as NAMTI, is a massage therapy school located in west Sedona.  One of the things I sought out years ago was a place to get a massage.  What could be better than a comforting and relaxing massage nestled in the red rocks of Sedona?

At NAMTI, you can experience both a relaxing massage and reduced rates because the massage therapists are students.  But don't ...

Sedona Weddings

Six years ago today, my wife and I were married in the Village right down by Oak Creek. The mountains in the background were dusted with snow and the sound of the water added a certain ambiance. The couple that planned and conducted the wedding live within a mile or so of the creek and have their online presence at www.sedonaweddings.com. Robert and Sharon ...

False Start - Snowbowl Will Not Open Today

Arizona Snowbowl's plans to open this morning at 9am has unfortunately been postponed.

The forecast yesterday called for 6 to 8 inches of snow.  Instead of snow, the area was bombarded with high-speed winds of up to 70 MPH, which blew much of the snow cover off of slopes in certain areas.  Opening of the resort will have to wait until additional snow fall arrives.

Sky Ranch Lodge

When visiting Sedona, there's one place that has the advantage over all others, and that's the Sky Ranch Lodge. While there are plenty of lodging options that will provide classy and polished accommodations, like the recently-opened Hyatt at the "Y", nothing offers up the experience quite like the Sky Ranch Lodge. Located at the top of Airport Road near the small airport, this lodge provides unique views of ...

Hideaway Restaurant

The Hideaway is one of our favorite restaurants in Sedona. It's located at 251 SR179 just south of the "Y", and is two levels of old-style wooden deck overlooking the forested Oak Creek. The main restaurant is downstairs with both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is extremely popular, so be sure to arrive early.

During the winter months, the ...

Construction on SR179

SR179, the road the flows from I-17 northbound through the Village of Oak Creek and into Sedona, has been in need of widening for quite some time. This nine mile stretch of road carries anywhere from 15,000 to 33,000 vehicles per day, depending on whose study you believe. And other than long out-of-the-way routes that would add more than an hour to one's drive, this is really the ...
