Armitage Wine Bar Lounge & Café
Wind down after a long day or after the work week at Armitage in North Scottsdale. Settle yourself in the inviting and relaxing wine bar lounge in the afternoon. Armitage comes alive as the night progresses with the upbeat music and the general vibe is fun and energetic. Whether you prefer to enjoy your martinis at the patio or indoors, this energized nightspot boasts of being a non-smoking atmosphere.
Armitage has a varied selection of wines sold by the glass or bottle at the bar, and other drinks and mixes to fit your liquor palette. What's more, they have a good selection of food to fill you up before you head for dinner, satisfy your late-night craving, or to simply match with a good drink. Your meager to full appetites can indulge in tasty offerings, from bruschetta, to paninis, to filet mignon. Last Saturday night, we were there with near-empty stomachs and a lust to try some new wines. Here are my tasty recommendations from their menu: good ol' Spinach Dip, darn good Prime Rib sliders and the dessert of vanilla ice cream over a big, warm and gooey chocolate chip cookie (if you've tried and love Oregano's pizookie/pizza cookie, you'll love this). White wines we tried and loved: Casa Lapostolle (full, vibrant chardonnay...will definitely get a bottle), New Age (effervescent, light summer wine that smells like an Hermès perfume, and has a playful sweet taste that you'd expect from its aroma), Quara (another sweet, almost floral scented wine, but has a bold, imposing flavor).
If you fall in love with one of the wines, you can certainly bring home a bottle from their wine store. The store is only open on Saturdays, but according to our bartender, the you can call on the manager to ask if you can purchase the wine (at store-prices, instead of bar-prices, of course) to take home. [Note: The menu at the bar lists Saturday as the only day it's open. Their website says it's open Tues-Sat, 3-9pm.]
