Don't Drink or Text and Drive in Phoenix

There are only two ways to get to Phoenix, fly or drive. Once you have arrived, virtually everyone drives everywhere, because the light rail system is still under construction and there really is no core area where people can walk around. This dependence on driving means keeping people safe on the roads is a priority for Phoenix and Arizona.

Two new laws were recently enacted that impact driving in the Valley. ...

Mercury Take WNBA Championships to Game 5

It all came down to Cappie Pondexter's 9-foot bank shot with 21.7 seconds remaining in the game. One shot and the game was over. The battle between the Phoenix Mercury and the Detroit Shock for the WNBA Championship, however, was not. The Mercury  forced the series into Game 5 with a one point win, 77 - 76 in Game 4.

It is estimated that 20 percent of all Americans knew someone who perished. I don't know what percentage of Arizonans had a personal connection to the tragedy. I do know that many will be coming together at various times and ...

The Caffeine Scene at Lux Coffeebar

Not everything is black and white at Lux Coffeebar in Phoenix. Most of the color, however, stems from the patrons. This is not to say the crowd is ethnically divided, or even diverse. Just that they are a colorful lot of creative types, work-a-holics, neighbors and more.

On the last Wednesday night in August, no one was dressed for the evening in ...

Labor Day: Rooted in Strife

"Labor Day differs in every essential way from the other holidays of the year in any country.  All other holidays are in a more or less degree connected with conflicts and battles of man's prowess over man, of strife and discord for greed and power, of glories achieved by one nation over another.  Labor Day...is devoted to no man, living or dead, to no sect, race or nation."  So ...

Phoenicians are hard pressed to call this the end of summer when temperatures are forecast to remain in the 107 degrees Fahrenheit/42 degrees Celsius range throughout the weekend. Sky Harbor International Airport's projected rise to the 9th busiest airport over the Labor Day holiday, up from ...
