Explore the Art of Great Gifts in Mesa
Believe it or not, this year's "hot" gadgets, toys, jewelry, clothes, etc. are not on everyone's holiday wish list. If you are looking for unique gifts that are not identical to what the masses are getting or giving, make plans to visit downtown Mesa on Saturday, December 8.
"People love a gift of culture, it has a story," explains Andrea Robinson, the Store Manager at the Mesa Arts Center.
The HO HO HO Holiday Art Show
Kick the day off at 9 a.m. with the HO HO HO Holiday Art Show. A collaborative effort between the Mesa Art League and Mesa Senior Center, the show will feature original artwork from local artists as well as prints, note cards, book marks and other types of reproductions. Members of the Art League may also be on hand demonstrating their creative process.
The HO HO HO Holiday Art Show will be held under the portico and in the parking lot outside the Mesa Senior Center at 247 N. Macdonald St. in Mesa from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Market on Main
The Market on Main is a regular event occurring every Saturday during the cooler months. Among the many local treasures to be found in the sidewalk displays along the south side of Main St. are fresh-baked breads, honeys, jams, local seasonal produce and more.
The Market is held between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the sidewalk on the south side of Main St. east of Macdonald St.
The Mesa Museum Holiday Sale
The stores and shops at three of Mesa's most popular arts facilities are offering everyone a 10 percent discount and members a 20 percent discount off all holiday purchases between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. Visitors to the Mesa Arts Center, the Arizona Museum for Youth and the Arizona Museum of Natural History Museum (formerly the Southwest Mesa Museum) will find unusual and exclusive merchandise not available elsewhere in the Valley.
Grown-ups looking for educational toys, games and art supplies for the kids on their list won't want to miss the holiday bargains in the Gallery Shop at the Arizona Museum for Youth or the Arizona Museum of Natural History's Museum Store. The Arizona Museum for Youth is located at 35 N. Robson in Downtown Mesa. The Arizona Museum of Natural History is located one block north of Main St. at 53 N. Macdonald St.
The Store at the Mesa Arts Center will feature one-of-a-kind affordable works created by Mesa Art Center students and instructors as well as other local artists and craftspeople. It is a great place to pick up stocking stuffers, such as CDs, glasswork, ceramics, art supplies and more, for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list. The Store at Mesa Arts Center, located at 1 East Main St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will also be offering complimentary refreshments and free gift wrapping (with minimum purchase).
This is a wonderful opportunity not only to find a personal gift for everyone on your list but also to support local artists and the local arts community. Don't miss it!
