Allegiant Airways has announced that service from Williams Gateway Airport to Missoula, MT and Bellingham, WA will begin in October.

"Based on the success of our existing service provided by Allegiant to Las Vegas we know the traveling public loves Allegiant Air," Cris Jensen, Airport Director of Missoula International Airport said in a written statement to the media. "We are thrilled that Allegiant has chosen Missoula as one of the cities to receive the new Phoenix-Mesa service and know travelers will take full advantage of the quality low cost service provided by Allegiant Air."

Non-stop service between Phoenix-Mesa and Missoula aboard a 130-seat MD-80 jet aircraft is scheduled to begin on October 26. Initially there will be two flights per week serving this route. Introductory fares as low as $79 each way are available on tickets purchased by September 15 for travel through February 10, 2008. Regular fares start as low as $99 one-way.

Service to Bellingham, which offer easy access to the Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, WA areas, will begin the following day, October 27. A 130-seat MD-80 will carry travelers along the Mesa - Bellingham route twice a week. Flights will depart Williams Gateway Airport at 3:15 p.m, arriving in Bellingham at 6:20 p.m then depart Bellingham at 6:55 p.m to return to Mesa at 9:55 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

"Bellingham is a great market for the Phoenix-Mesa area, providing access to Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington, and the vicinity," Lynn Kusy, executive director of Williams Gateway Airport Authority explained in a written statement. "Having had previous experience with service to Bellingham, we know this will be a great success for the Airport, the airline and the community."

This is good news! I go up to Washington and Vancouver on a regular basis to visit family and friends. :-)

I am excited about the Bellingham route, too. Hopefully, I can get out of the heat next summer! Is the easiest way to get to Vancouver from Bellingham by train?

Fastest would be by train, but you can also take the bus if you're not in a hurry. There is a difference between the two when it comes to immigration checks. By bus you go by the border check, by train they do it when you get to the downtown Vancouver terminal. Also, check how far the airport is to the bus or train.

I'm going there in December to get our yearly chill quota. My boyfriend, a native Chicagoan, craves winters.
