Fuchsia Spa: A Luxury Spa for Everyday Women

Finding time to go to a spa can be tough. Finding a spa that understands how hard it is to steal an hour for some well-deserved pampering is even tougher. The resort spas Phoenix is famous for are destinations in themselves often requiring a full, or at least a half, day commitment and costing hundreds of dollars. The day spas that can be found throughout the Valley run the gamut from destination-type luxury spas not associated with a resort to med-spas to spas associated with nail and hair salons. Yet among all these options, Fuchsia's unique approach stands out.

Entrance to Fuchsia Spa
Fuchsia is a luxury spa for everyday women. They understand their clients don't have a lot of time but still want a luxurious experience. All their services, facials, micro-dermabrasions, massages and chemical peels, are priced $75 with no additional service fees unless you purchase products or additional services. Then they take the pampering one step further, creating an affordable, monthly ritual through their membership program. For $59 a month, members get one free treatment and any additional treatments are only $45! Members also receive special discounts, exclusive deals and more.

Intrigued? I was, even though fuchsia isn't on the top of my list of relaxing colors. I took them up on their $39 facial and $39 massage offer anyway. First came the massage. Being able to choose the type of music playing during my massage was a nice touch. I'm not fond of standard "spa music". I need something with words to relax, probably because I spend so much time with them. The massage itself was fine - not great, not horrible. I didn't feel all tingly but it did get rid of the aches I had some in with.

The facial was much better and full of surprises. First, the young woman giving the facial was Polish. I couldn't place her accent until she told me, though I did know it wasn't Russian. The next surprise was that the facial was customized for my concerns, sun-damage, acne and an adult bout with the chicken pox. My skin isn't that bad but it isn't flawless, either. The exfoliation mask was just on the edge of uncomfortably warm. It was worth it, however, because my skin just drank up the moisturizer rather than looking oily. The final surprise didn't actually occur to me for a few days when I realized that unlike most other facials I've had, this one didn't actually lead to a breakout. In fact, my skin looks and feels so great, I am going back in August.

Currently, Fuchsia has just one location, at 1854 Val Vista Dr. in Mesa. This is in the same strip mall as AJ's Fine Foods, whose outdoor grill is a great place to grab a quick lunch, and Barnes and Noble. It's a nice place to window shop, with furniture and clothes stores that give popular trends a real woman twist. A second location in Chandler is planned to open in 2007. A third location to open in 2007 is also being negotiated. Obviously, I'm not the only woman who prefers a spa membership to a gym membership!
