Gilbert's Cosmo Dog Park Closed for Repairs

Repairs are underway at Gilbert's popular Cosmo Dog park. The facility, recognized by Dog Fancy magazine as one of the nation's top dog parks, will be closed through August 15, allowing the city to repair landscaping and increase the amount of shoreline along the lake for canine swimmers. The Park opened in 2006.
The 4-acre fenced no-leash zone located at Ray Rd. and the San Tan Freeway (Loop 202), offers four-footed park-goers drinking fountains and washing stations, as well as training and agility/exercise equipment. Their two-legged companions will find ramadas, tables, benches, trash receptacles and "mutt-mitt" waste disposal stations. A separate fenced section for timid and/or smaller dogs opened in June.

For the curious, Cosmo was the name of Gilbert's first police dog. She joined the force in 1993 and retired six year later. Cosmo passed away in 2002 but her spirit lives on in a wonderful place for local and visiting pooches to play and make new friends.
