Doubletree kidsCAREpak Encourages Kids to Get Out - Doors, That Is
The Doubletree Guest Suites Phoenix – Gateway Center and the Doubletree Resort Scottsdale/Paradise Valley are working to get kids out of their rooms this summer. Through Labor Day weekend (September 3, 2007), children, ages 3 to 12, staying at these and other Dounbletree Hotels in 130 destinations throughout North America, will receive a complimentary welcome gift encouraging them to explore the world beyond the doors of their hotel this summer. The packs include nature-themed games and activities to help occupy young minds between swimming and eating.
“Doubletree recognized a unique opportunity to connect kids with nature this summer through an outdoor explorer themed kidsCAREpak to welcome all of our young guests,” said Ronnie Kaiser, senior director of brand marketing for Doubletree. “Thanks to our great relationship with the National Arbor Day Foundation, our Doubletree kidsCAREpak provides a breath of fresh air with a variety of fun-filled, outdoor-oriented activities families can enjoy during their time away. The earth-themed pak also provides a series of environmental education lessons kids can take away long past their visit to our hotels.”
The Doubletree “Outdoor Explorer” kidsCAREpak includes:
- Kid-sized Binoculars
- Globe Hacky Sack
- Rainforest-themed Flying Saucer
- Outdoor Explorer Activity Book and Crayons and
- Forest-filled Playing Cards...
...all packed in a kidsCAREpak Earthpack.
Well-equipped explorers in the Phoenix area will also want to add a bottle of water, a hat/visor, sunscreen and sunglasses to their paks to help stay healthy in the summer sun and heat. Adding a book from a summer reading list or just one you liked as a child can help slow the “summer slide” without having to pester kids into reading more. (The Earthpack should be large enough to accommodate the seventh Harry Potter book, I checked!)
“We are very excited to be working with the Doubletree Hotels again this year, and applaud their efforts to educate children on the importance of trees and the environment as a whole,” said Kevin Sander, director of corporate marketing for the National Arbor Day Foundation. “It's critical to instill in children an appreciation and understanding of nature because they are the earth's future stewards. The Doubletree kidsCAREpak is a great way to connect children with nature through fun, educational activities.”
Complimentary welcome gifts are available while supplies last at participating hotels. Participating hotels are subject to change without notice. Program not available to meetings or groups. Other restrictions apply.
There are many places to observe and experience the natural environment in and around the Phoenix metropolitan area. Papago Park and the Desert Botanical Gardens, Tempe Town Lake, Indian Bend Wash and the Riparian Institute. Where is your favorite place to experience Phoenix' natural wonders?
