Festivals Galore - 10 Fun Festivals During April
Have you ever sat around watching golf, clicking through the channels with your remote like a listless robot? Yummy, that funny cooking show, oh look- the Simpsons, Survivor man, Wheel of Fortune, Cheers... After a while, your eyes go weary, your head sinks into the couch pillow and you wake up in a pool of drool with a cat kneading your belly.
HELLO! Time to wake up. It's Springtime in Arizona and one of the best times to be out and about, not doing your best vegetable imitation on the couch (potato, carrot, rutabaga, whichever you like). Is potato even a vegetable? Not that it matters, but I'm sure someone will slap me down if I'm wrong (or at least politely admonish me).
Here are ten upcoming festivals to help fight the couch potato blues. Throw down that remote and get out there and live. It's too easy to let life just slip by you while you hibernate, so make a firm resolution and as Captain Jean Luc Picard of the USS Starship Enterprise would say, "Make it so."
Peoria Stadium Spring Arts and Crafts Festival, Peoria, April 6-8 (http://www.magicbirdfestivals.com/).
Herb Festival, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, April 7, (arboretum.ag.arizona.edu).
Chili Cook-Off at Lake Havasu State Park, April 7(www.azstateparks.com/Parks/parkhtml/havasu.htmlwww.azstateparks.com/Parks/parkhtml/havasu.html)
Spring Fine Art and Culinary Festival, Litchfield Park (http://www.litchfield-park.org/)
Scottsdale Culiary Festival, Scottsdale, April 10-15 (http://www.scottsdaleculinaryfestival.org/)
Maricopa County Fair, Phoenix, April 11-15 (www.maricopacountyfair.org)
Fiesta Days Rodeo and Parade, Cave Creek, April 13-15 (www.carefree-cavecreek.com)
Arizona Book Festival, Phoenix, April 14 (www.azbookfestival.org)
ASU Art Museum Short Film and Video Festival, Tempe, April 14 (asuartmuseum.asu.edu)
Oro Valley Festival of the Arts, Oro Valley, April 14-15 (www.govac.org)
Glendale Jazz and Blues Festival, Glendale, April 14-15 (www.ci.glendale.az.us/events/index.cfm)
So there you go, 10 (actually 11, I'm generous like that) fine, fun festivals (or fairs/parades/rodeos) to go enjoy! Now put down the remote, back away slowly and bounce out the door like a nun on a pogo stick.
