Free concert in Avondale, Arizona (Neighbor to Goodyear)

A very close neighbor of Goodyear's is Avondale. In fact, many times you just have to cross a street and you are in the other suburb--their borders are close companions. Anyway, Avondale has a free concert series called "Under the Stars", which consists of different types of music concerts for free at an outside amphitheater in the heart of Avondale. Tonight is "Edvis" in concert at 6:30pm at the Avondale Civic Center. The address is 11465 W. Civic Center Drive. Food and drinks are available to purchase. Come out and enjoy an inexpensive yet fun evening! If you aren't able to make it tonight, be sure to check out other concerts in the series offered throughout the year. Just in time for the super bowl weekend...McGrath's is a fairly new establishment to the west valley of Phoenix, but it is here to stay!� They�feature fresh seafood such as salmon, trout, lobster, as well as many others.� They have a daily list of freshly flown in seafood and the list even tells you where it was flown in from, which I find very chic.

They have a great atmosphere with great food.� This is a place you can take your kids, your romantic partner, or meet a group of friends--young and old.�

In addition to excellent seafood entrees, they also feature signature salad dishes that are FAB-U-LOUS.� It is worth the extra money let me tell you!

Since we are in Arizona where everyone likes to go�as casual as possible, I would say this restaurant is no different.� You see people in all types of dress in this particular restaurant.�McGrath's is also located near most of the major hotels in Goodyear, so if you are staying at any of these--check out McGrath's.

Goodyear Community Park has something for everyone

Goodyear is such a great, quiet, family-oriented community. There are several parks throughout Goodyear. One of my personal favorites is Goodyear Community Park on Litchfield Rd north of I-10. It is such a quaint and beautiful park. It has a wonderful welcoming sign as you enter the park. Then you get out and smell the freshly cut grass and you feel like you are back in the Midwest in the old neighborhood.�

There is a skate park for skaters and BMX bike riders. It just opened about 3 weeks ago and has been a big hit among some of the young kids. Just be careful if you use it!

There are several baseball fields in addition to others.� The park is the site of many community events held year-round including movies in the parks and festivals.

The park fosters a community feel.� It is just a must see if you visit Goodyear.

1) Visit the Wildlife Zoo located just north of Goodyear. This is a unique experience as the zoo has many exotic animals such as galapagos tortoises and white tigers. You can visit there website at: http://www.wildlifeworld.com/ for more information.

2) If you are into skateboarding, visit the state-of-the-art Skate Park at the Goodyear Community Park. This just opened recently and is truly amazing to see. For more information: http://az-goodyear.civicplus.com/index.asp?SID=611.

3) Hike, bike, or just play at Estrella Mountain Regional Park. This is a massive park with an outdoor activity for just about anyone. It is beautiful and a great way to spend a sunny Arizona afternoon or they even hold evening events such as stargazing. 4) Check out any of the many special events that are held in Goodyear all year round. Coming up around the corner in February are the Rodeo Days! Best Sandwiches, Bread and Soup in Goodyear, Arizona!

Want to check out one of the best soup and bread restaurants in town? Then it is hands-down the Wildflower Bread Company in Goodyear, Arizona. It is located on Litchfield Road, south of McDowell (in the Best Buy parking lot). This is a semi sit down restaurant where you order and pay at the cash register, but then they give you these charming cards with various pictures (one has a steaming loaf of bread) and bring you your food once it is ready. They bake the breads fresh daily and you can even purchase whole loaves to take home. They offer an array of meals such as sandwiches for lunch, wonderful breakfast meals, and interesting dinner options (butternut squash ravioli anyone?). I have had the sourdough bread bowl with potato cream cheese soup (I've also tried the roasted tomato soup)--both are unbelievable! I had breakfast there one day and it was also awesome. I had the frittata with home fries and bread. If you are looking for a great hot meal or sandwich. Check this place out. You will want to go back. If you go and try it, let me know what you think! Check out local artists in Goodyear, Arizona! This Thursday evening (January 25, 2007) from 6 to 8pm two artists, William Farrar and Sharon Fiori, will showcase their work at the Starpoint Residents Club, Estrella Mountain Ranch at 17665 W. Elliott Road in Goodyear. It should be a lively event as there will�be live jazz music,�wine and appetizers. It should be a great time! As a great admirer of baseball, I am excited and proud to tell you�that the�City of Goodyear, Arizona announced recently that they will be the future spring training site for the professional baseball team the Cleveland Indians.� Goodyear is a suburb in the Phoenix, Arizona area, which is HUGE for baseball spring training! So for all of you baseball fans and especially Cleveland Indians fans: WELCOME!

I'll keep you updated on this story as more info is available. The�baseball facility is anticipated to be ready for spring training 2009. PLAY BALL!
