Easter Train Egg-stravaganza

This is a family day of rumbling down the track to Portage and back. The Easter bunny will be ...

Arctic Man Competition

Alaska has a sort of... reputation... there is a wildness, an extreme mindset. Oddly enough, most of us up here live an ordinary-ish life. We drop our children off at school, we go to work... and yet, we still have these opportunities to touch the crazy-side of Alaska. The wilderness surrounds Anchorage and winds its way through it in the form of salmon bearing streams, greenbelts and parks... these green zones ...

Iditarod Weekend

The countdown has begun. The Iditarod will begin with a ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage on Saturday and then Sunday (the official time start) restart in Willow. This is an odd numbered year, which means they will follow the "Southern" route through the center of the state.

The media mileage of the race has always been 1049 miles (for the 49th state), but the actual mileage of the Southern route is ...

Her exact works were, "the reindeer took off like rockets and we were left ...

Snowgoose Restaurant Banquet Space

The Snowgoose Restaurant and Sleeping Lady Brewery is known mostly for its' beer and its' great downtown location. It also has a banquet room that is used well and often, currently for the Fur Rondy Melodrama, on the main level of the restaurant. It comes complete with stage and lights. But there is also a second, lesser known banquet space downstairs. It is a large u-shaped room, with the far arm of the "U" ...

It's hard to sit at the computer at this time of year because there is SO much to DO! The Iron Dog (snow machine) race is done, the Yukon Quest (dog sled race) is still in progress, and FUR RONDY time is upon us.  We're gaining 5 plus minutes of light a day, over 35 minutes a week and it shows. Everyone has extra energy and needs an outlet. Fur ...
