Annual Rush on the Bank in Alaska

I have been hearing from friends all day... the message is all the same, "woops, I accidentally tried to go to the bank today." We all know that this is the worst day of the year to go to the bank in Alaska unless you are desperate. The Alaska Permenant Fund Dividend, the annual check that every man, woman and child gets each year just for living here, has arrived. This year's check is $1305.00 per person. And the rush? Who are they? The great many who have been waiting all year to buy their new ATV, snowmachine, tickets outside, or snowboard. Sure, there are plenty of people who need the money for rent, food, or medical insurance... but I'd venture to guess that many many Alaskans simply BLOW their PFD checks. Yep, they spend it all in one place! Good luck, dudes. You earned another years bonus... It's gonna be a long cold winter!
