Saturday! Free Kid Fun!
Now HERE is an event worth going to! On Saturday they are having the grand opening of the Scott Gomez Outdoor Ice Skating rink. There will not be skating (it's summer after all) but there will be "Face-painting, circus arts, floor hockey, arts and crafts, raffle drawings, and a dessert bar." This is all just a few blocks away from Scott's childhood home at the Tikishla (Black Bear) Park (Northern Lights to Lake Otis, North on Lake Otis, right or East onto 20th Ave, and follow to the end of the road).
The event is on Saturday, June 13 from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM. There is a nice park there for the children and a trail that goes along Chester Creek. You can follow the trail to a pedestrian overpass leading to Goose Lake. This has all of the makings of a good (and free, did I mention free?) kid-fun outing.
