Ice Stops Anchorage Cold
In the past 5 years there have been two school closures on account of weather. Today is that second time. It can snow 3 feet and school will still happen. In Alaska, school closes on account of "ice."
After 2 weeks of -20(F), it has finally warmed up. At zero, it felt balmy, yesterday at 20 (F) I was tempted to skip the jacket. Overnight it warmed up to above freezing. It RAINED on top of the snow pack and created a layer of ice with standing water on top. School was cancelled, our preschool was cancelled, even my husbands office called and said that the office is closed.
If you are in Anchorage and can stay put... then do it. Snuggled down, nestle in, and stay safe and off the roads!
